        Debian allows you to do a basic install from floppies. I heartily
recommend that everyone do an entire install from floppies, at least once...
once, mind you. :)

you end up with a very lean system, which you understand very well (because
you have to think about each package that you install; repeatedly); and it
teaches you many things (such as that a multi-disk .zip file can simply be
cat'ed together into one big .zip file, then un.zip'ed; useful when you want
to install a package that doesn't fit on a single floppy).

so go for it. :)
