encoding MP3s

Hi everyone,

So I decided to try RipperX. Using that front-end, CDParanoia, and 
BladeEnc (MP3 encoder), I ripped a CD successful and encoded it for MP3.
Cool. It took a long time, however. My system is a Pentium Pro 200, 96MB
RAM and it took a couple hours to encode the .wav files into MP3s. Is this
normal?
