You probably already had gtk installed for the gimp, and now it is
telling you, correctly, that you have both. What does Caldera use for
package managment? Use that to look and see if gtk is in fact installed
already.

The problem with RPM, and dpkg to a lesser extent is that they split
packages into two, the normal binary and then a separate development
package which you have to install separately if you want to compile any
gtk+ apps like GNOME. (That's why I use Slackware:)

Start there and post back what you find.
