HP Jet Direct / Jet admin Qs

Heya,

I obtained an HP Jet Direct 500X network print server; got it yesterday
from the junk store for $10, so how could I go wrong. I know what the
this thing is for, but I have never had to set one up from scratch. On
the HP site, they offer versions of the JetAdmin software for Win32, Unix
etc.. but no mention of Linux. So naturally, I have a few questions:

1) Will the HP-UX / Solaris versions of JetAdmin run on Linux? (doubt it)

2) Even if #1 is 'no', can I still use a Linux system to print directly
to the networked printers, as I assume they will be TCP/IP addressable?

3) If #3 is still 'no' will I then I have to set up a machine to act
specifically as a network print spooler?

4) Can someone tell me how to do this _correctly_ :)

Thanks in advance,
Bill
