ThinkPad modem and sound

I'm relatively new to Linux, about 6 months or so with limited time to
work on it in depth. I'm running SuSE 6.4 on an IBM ThinkPad i1720
(similar to a 390E). It works great, and haven't had really any
troubles. The biggest issues I'm facing right now is no sound, and no
modem capabilities from the built in 56k modem. I do get dial
capabilities through an older 33.6 pcmcia card. But would like to
utilize the built in one for higher speed. Anyone know if there's been
a solution to this yet? I did a search a couple of weeks ago, but
didn't come up with anything good at the time.
Is there a good place to search for ThinkPad drivers out there? IBM
doesn't list any Linux drivers that I've seen yet, and I believe they
just released the info for creating drivers for Linux.

Thanks,

Shawn
