Re: [TCLUG:1267] Why Linux?

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that feels Linux and X windows has a
long way to go to match Windows 9x or even the Mac as far as actually
getting things done. But I do love messing around with Linux. I have it
installed on all my computers, most of which are dual boot. I do have a
dedicated server with Linux only, this is on my home network. I have Samba
running on it for Windows connectivity and Netatalk for my Mac. I was able
to make PPP work and also NFS. It's a great learning tool and I have lots
of fun trying out new things. I thought it was really cool when I got my
Mac to print to the laser printer on my Linux server! One of my goals is to
try and configure my system so all the clients use the server to connect to
the internet, and then also set up the server to automatically connect every
so often and get my e-mail. If anyone can help me with that, I'd appreciate
it.
