I would look into finding out what chip drives your onboard video.
That will give you your first clue as to whether X is supported or
not.  In the next step, defining your "Monitor" sections, it is useful
to have the refresh rates and resolutions that your LCD display can
handle.  I'm assuming that it'll see your LCD display like any other
monitor, so the same rules should apply.  I've never had laptop
experience, so I may be gravely wrong. :)  Why don't you read up on
XFree86 for the real answer.  They're pretty good at documenting
everything.  If you're stuck w/o a web browser for the info, try Lynx,
the console-based web browser.  It'll get you the info you need w/o
all the graphic crutches.
