In their FAQ, X-10 specifically say a mouse might not work right with a
passthrough. You might want to move one of them to a different port, or
get a PS/2 mouse.

I've had some problems with mouse-death in the past. I've found that
switching to a text-mode TTY and then back helped. Try pressing
CTRL-ALT-F3 for text mode, and then ALT-F7 to get back in X (assuming
you're not running XDM, if you are it might be ALT-F1 or something).
