Re: [TCLUG:10874] scsi confusion

The scsi adapter on board a Asus p2b-ds. It is an adaptec aic-7890 ultra
scsi II with an aic-3860 transeiver chipset that allows for low voltage
differential. There are three connectors on the board, standard 50 pin, 68
pin wide scsi connector and 60 pin ultra 2 scsi connector. Currently on
the narrow scsi chain is a mitsumi cd rom. On the lvd chain is a
micropolis 9.1, an IBM 4.5 and an IBM 9.1. On the wide scsi chain is a zip
250.

I gave it a try on another computer, identical scsi controler on the single
processor version of the motherboard, and it didn't halt the system. In
fact it didn't do anything, the scsi detect just passed it over wether it
was on id 8, 4, or 0. By the way the Id of my controlers is set to 7.
What about termination for this drive? Would that cause problems. On the
first duel system it was just upstream from the zip drive which terminated
that chain, or cable. On the other system I used the self terminating
feature of the drive. The only thing I am confused about is one bank of
jumpers. It states that the drive can specify terminator power from the
drive, from the scsi bus, to the scsi bus, and to the scsi bus and the
drive. which one should it be on?

Thanks for the help
