If so, I've got a lot of data that says it's not SCSI inherently but
probably the way something at the end handles it.  I used a Sonic
Solutions CD editing system for years that was all SCSI and maintained
really high band width, regardless of whether or not tape was being dumped
to in the background while drives were being read or
written.  Unfortunately, I don't know what chipset they were using, and
the SCSI I/O came on a card of their own building...
