I have a k6-2. I have apm compiled into the kernel, but only with power
off options, not the idle option. I started running rc5 recently (about
the time I noticed the static). What (why) is the relationship between cpu
activitity (or heat) and static off the sound card? My old computer piped
lots of static to the sound card when loading programs, etc, but I thought
it was related to hard drive usage (which usually coinsided with cpu
activitiy) since the cdrom was on primary ide with my hard drive. This
computer was also a k6 and I didn't have this problem under win95.

Do k6's produce static when working?

Thanks,

Ben
