Well, my routing table appears to be fixed now.

[root@thales wilson]# /sbin/route -e

The timing out problem seems to have disappeared now that I've tweaked the
DNS stuff. Here's my /etc/resolv.conf:

[root@thales wilson]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
domain science.sibley.isd197.k12.mn.us
search science.sibley.isd197.k12.mn.us isd197.k12.mn.us
nameserver 10.22.6.1
nameserver 198.22.19.3
nameserver 198.22.19.2

Now, the problem seems to be that I can't ping the off-site nameserver. I
can ping the gateway (10.22.2.250) just fine. 

Does anyone have a suggestion for what to try next?
