Samba - In Reverse Problem Solved

First of all, thanks to everyone who helped this newbie get on the right track.

I figured out that I had to escape the backslashes in the service as in...
      smbmount \\\\myserver\\myshare  password -U Bob

Along with this I added the -U option to specify the username so that the 
password
would match.
