I had a problem similar to this after I upgraded to RH 6.1.
What happened is that during the upgrade process, it had replaced my
symlinks that were causing sendmail to point at
/var/spool/qmail/bin/sendmail with an actual copy of sendmail. This
didn't cause a problem, except for local deliveries, and then sendmail
would move the symlink in /var/mail out to some odd name, and put a real
file in its place.
It took me a little while to figure out what on earth was going
on. After I figured it out though, fixing it was easy. Isn't that
always the way it is? *grin*
Have fun (if at all possible),
