many pdf viewers are freely available, and the pdf format has been around a
long time. If you were using Debian you could do an
apt-get install acroread
or
apt-get install xpdf

and you would be straight. Also if you are in windoze, adobe makes a freely
available plugin for your browser so you can view pdf's inlline in your
browser.
