Sisyphus (was: [Re:hello])

Well, since my main goal in this is just to get a better understanding of
what's happening with the kernel, etc, I expect that I will be making most
of it up as I go along. The initial plan is to get the drive
partitioned/formatted and get the source for the kernel and what I need to
compile it. Then I'll compile it, figure out what didn't work, and
recompile. My intention is to get just the basics working, then add stuff
until it breaks; figure out how to fix it, and continue. If I don't get
anything useful out of it, it's not a big deal. If I do, that would just be
cool.

I was also wondering if anyone else would be interested in working on this.
I'm sure that there are other people who would like to learn more about the
guts of Linux, and it would be nice to have a separate brain working on
this.

| Yeah me too, actually. What's your plan of action? Mine is to build a
| source tree (most of the vital stuff is there now), compile gcc, glibc,
| fileutils and binutils, and then chroot to the source tree and do it all
| again (so that everything gets compiled with the new gcc and against the
| new glibc). Then, I make a giant master Makefile, and fire it off and have
| it compile everything. I don't get to work on it as much as I want to, but
| what do you expect. :)
